This page explains the language cookie, the saved analytics choice, Google Analytics 4 when configured, and payment-provider cookies.
Cookies we use
Our functional language cookie is socishop_locale. Our server writes it only when you choose a language yourself — in the language menu, in the footer language links or in the language suggestion on a page — and it remembers that language for one year. No cookie is written on your first visit: an address without a language is matched to your browser’s language settings and the country of your IP address during that request, and this choice is not stored. If you close the language suggestion, your browser’s local storage remembers that for 90 days as socishop_locale_dismissed. An older cookie named NEXT_LOCALE from earlier visits is no longer read and is removed the next time you choose a language. None of these contain a name, email or order data.
Google Analytics 4
When Google Analytics 4 is configured, its tag loads from Google even before you make a choice. Consent Mode v2 keeps analytics storage denied unless you have accepted analytics. In that state Google may receive limited measurements without analytics cookies. Advertising storage, ad user data and ad personalization are configured as denied.
During payment
At the payment step Stripe or PayPal may set their own cookies to complete the payment securely and run fraud checks. Those cookies are governed by the provider's own policy, and your card details never reach us.
How your analytics choice works
When analytics is configured and no choice is saved, a consent banner with accept and decline buttons appears. Accepting enables analytics storage; declining keeps it denied. Your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage as socishop_consent and applied on later visits. Advertising storage, ad user data and ad personalization remain denied with either choice.
How to control cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If socishop_locale is removed, the site no longer remembers your chosen language and picks one again from your browser’s language settings and your country when you open an address without a language; nothing else is affected.
